21 Weeks - 5 Months!

Baby Smith is now 21 weeks / 5 months (we are half way there) and is growing fast!

We had a very comprehensive ultrasound done last week that checked Baby Smith’s development and according to the NP all is developing very nicely. Baby Smith weighs a little over 1 pound, has a heart rate of 140 beats per minute, doesn’t show signs of a cleft lip, has a beautiful curved spine, ribs, two eyes & ears & arms & long legs, open fingers / toes (good sign), a little nose, a tongue we saw wag at us as himorher opened hisorher mouth (see attached pic), has four defined chambers to the heart, developing kidneys and a beautiful little baby belly! Baby Smith is sitting low in my abdomen but while the NP said it is something to monitor she didn’t seem too concerned about it.

Baby Smith is super active and I can feel himorher continuously throughout the day now. Since heorshe can hear now Mom likes to play music for himorher and Dad likes to read himorher bed time stories from his Diesel magazines (if it is a girl she is going to know a lot about trucks).

Also, I’m feeling great and my body is responding well to being pregnant (blood pressure, weight gain, health and energy are all good) so I have lots to be thankful for.
